  CBL Centre for Advanced Welding Technology - Ensuring a brighter future for the youth  
   
     
  As we are moving ahead with our business initiatives, we have not lost sight of our responsibilities as a change agent for accelerating the pace of social and economic transformation across various segments to complement the efforts of the government. We have signed an MOU with Ador Institute of Welding Technology, Pune to provide full technical support for starting a Welding Training Institute to enhance the employability of local youth.

This institute is also a joint initiative with the Directorate of Technical Education Training, Punjab to impart technical skills to the youth of Punjab for getting a gainful employment.

With this initiative, CBL Centre for Advanced Welding Technology (CAWT) has come in existence. CAWT is a beginning to enhance the skills of the local youth. This would certainly open up various new avenues for their brighter future.
 
     
  Train the Trainer  
  CBL organised a two-day workshop - "Train the Trainers" on welding machinery on February 9 and 10, 2011 at the CBL Works, Kurali. The training workshop was in line with our CSR initiative for Opening a Welding Training Institute – Center for Advanced Welding Technology with technical assistance from Ador Welding Limited. This institute is also a joint initiative with the Directorate of Technical Education Training, Punjab to impart technical skills to the youth of Punjab for getting a gainful employment. Over 50 welding instructor from various ITI's from all over Punjab attended the workshop. The sessions at the workshop helped the attendees learn new skills and attain knowledge related to welding.

The training session was inaugurated by Mr. Suresh Kumar, I.A.S., Principal Secretary, Technical Education and Training, Punjab. The training was also attended by Mr. V.K. Sharma, Director and Mr. Jagjit Singh, Joint Director, Technical Education and Industrial Training, Punjab.

  Community Development Through Polytechnic (C.D.T.P.)  
  CBL understands that if we want to ensure a bright future, we need to educate the youth. With the same intent, CBL makes every possible effort. The Director, CBL, Mr. A.S. Cheema is the Chairman of Advisory Committee under Community Development Through Polytechnic (C.D.T.P.) scheme at the K.M Polytechic, Mohali. This is the central government's scheme under the Ministry of Human Resource and Development. The committee focuses on the following things:

  • Manpower Development: - Providing skill training to the students of the local polytechnic colleges
  • Dissemination of technology like rain water harvesting, etc. in local villages
  • Technical support services like repairing electrical equipment in the villages
